Lecture on some thermodynamic properties at the faculty of Ibn al-Haytham
Zeinab Abbas Hassan, an instructor at the department of chemistry, faculty of education for pure sciences (Ibn al-Haytham) at Baghdad university delivered a lecture entitled “some thermodynamic properties of binary mixtures consisting of alcohol isomers and Cellophane at 298.15 k degree” within the cultural season of this department. The lecture focused on the industrial importance of Cellophane as a polar solvent of highly efficiency in selecting mono-ring aromatic hydrocarbons (benzene, toluene and Xylene) that are widely used in the extraction of aromatic hydrocarbons from Reformate and light Naphtha. The lecture referred to thermodynamic properties of density, refractive index and viscosity of binary mixtures consisting of Cellophane and alcohols such as (Butanol -1, Butanol -2, Methyl -1, Propanol -1, Methyl -2, Propanol -2 at the temperature of 298, 15 k. Molar surplus volumes (VE) were calculated of practical measurements of density and surplus molar refractivity (חD) from the practical measurements of refractive index while molar viscosity (G * E) was calculated from the measurements for viscosity and density on the total term of molar fraction. The essential benefit of this study is to find out the partial effects of Cellophane and alcohols used.
